It's Spring Time at Double Horn Ranch!
Spring has arrived in the Hill Country, and with it comes the rain. Eight inches has fallen since the equinox, as of May 21, 2015.
One result of the rains has been some flooding around the ranch, seen here on May 17, 2015
The apples shown here are absolutely loving the wet weather and cooler temperatures this Spring.
Another impact the rains have had is the abundance of fruit on the trees and vines around the Hill Country. Double Horn Ranch is no exception, and the photos here show a Spring-time drink being made right in the garden where the mint and blackberries grow.
The Recipe for the "Black Horned Bull": 5 fresh blackberries (muddle 3, leave 2 up top for garnish), 4 fresh mint leaves (muddle3, leave 1 up top for garnish, One 6.8 oz. Fever Tree Ginger Beer, optional: 2 oz. Hendrick's Gin.
Lastly we wanted to share a video shot by DoubleHorn Photography of the recently modified, spring-fed, partially recirculating creek on which Land Restoration is nearing completion!
That's it for our first blog post, we hope you enjoyed seeing all Spring has on offer here at Double Horn Ranch! We'll be back next time with some updates on how the peach, grape, pear and other fruit harvests are going in the area, as well as right here in the orchard by the creek.
